January 2020 FCW Report

Happy New Year! As we enter a new decade, I am beyond honored to accept the reins from our 2019 Florida CattleWomen’s President, Debbie Gill. Debbie has left a very distinguished legacy for myself and future Florida CattleWomen’s Presidents to carry on for years to come. She is one of a kind, and is able to touch people’s lives, as she shares what is to be a Florida CattleWoman.

Florida CattleWomen are filled with many ladies that are matriarchs to the Beef Industry. Debbie Gill and many other Florida CattleWomen are true Matriarchs. In our world today, the importance of a Matriarch, needs to be valued. I am blessed to be mentored by these strong matriarchal ladies.

As we begin, I feel, will be a memorable year, I would like to share with you my theme. Yes, I have stepped up and joined the cattlemen with a hashtag theme. My theme for my presidency is “#shareyourstory.” All of us have a story to share, so share it. Everyone loves a good story, a story of challenges conquered, a story of hope, a story of love for life, and just a story thanking God for giving us our time on Earth. So please, light up social media, with #share yourstory.

In keeping with the goals of Florida Cattlemen, to be ever vigilant on the social media scene, Florida CattleWomen will be launching a Florida CattleWomen Blogging Site, that will be tied to the Florida Cattlemen’s website. We will also be posting You Tube videos that will be featuring Beef Information, and Florida CattleWomen Lifestyle Pieces, most notably, our Florida CattleWomen Living History Video from 2019. Florida CattleWomen will also continue to keep an active role on Facebook.

Keeping on the fast track of accomplishing the goals we set out to achieve, please mark your calendars for the Florida CattleWomen’s yearly fundraiser, FCW Fun Shoot, Saturday, January 4, 2020, beginning at 9:00 a.m., at Quail Creek Plantation, Okeechobee, FL. Florida CattleWomen would sincerely appreciate everyone’s support, by either sponsorship or entering a team in the competition. There is many sponsorship and participation levels available to choose from. Please consider joining in the FUN! Please contact Sarah Childs, by phone, (863)-441-0105, or email, sarahchilds47@gmail.com, for sponsorship inquiries or team entry.

Keep that calendar open, and make sure to make plans to attend the upcoming Florida Cattlemen and CattleWomen’s Legislative Quarterly, January 21st-23rd, 2020, Tallahassee, FL. I cannot tell everyone enough how important it is to make plans to attend this Quarterly. This is the time where we have direct contact with our elected officials, discussing issues that impacts our everyday lives. Please consider joining up with us. Florida CattleWomen, will be getting together the evening before, our visits to the elected officials, to study up on the chosen discussion points. Do not miss out on attending this important event.

Please remember to rally your County CattleWomen, as the Florida State Fair is right around the corner. Florida CattleWomen are very fortunate to have a presence in the Agriculture Hall of Fame Building, representing the Beef Commodity. During the 12 day run of the state fair, we will be handing out beef samples and most importantly, “sharing our story” with the public. Everyone wants to hear each others life story, what better time, then fair time to “share your BEEF story.” If you are interested in volunteering, please let me know, by sending me an email, my email is address: bdislkranch@yahoo.com.

In the month of March, Florida CattleWomen will be holding a Florida CattleWomen’s Workshop, topics to be covered are; beef education strategies for CattleWomen to use in the classroom, Safe Food Handling Classes, and Membership Development. Stay tuned for further information.

I, along with the Florida CattleWomen’s Executive Board, are very excited for the goals, we as a membership will be setting out to accomplish in the next 18 months. Please remember to always #shareyourstory. Please reach out if you have any questions, thoughts, or just want to share your story. My contact information, along with the Florida CattleWomen’s Executive Board, is listed in this article.
