Sharon Salzberg said it best, “Faith is a willingness to take the next step, to see the unknown as an adventure, to launch a journey”.
As I begin my year of service as the 2021-2022 Florida Cattlewomen’s Association President, I look back on the steps I took to get here.
My first step as an FFA member was when I began raising and showing beef cattle. The next big step was in college, the first time I showed up at a Gator Collegiate Cattlewomen’s meeting and became a member. I simply fell in love with the organization, the friendships, and the opportunity to make a positive impact in the Florida Beef industry. Over time I grew my passion and involvement in both the collegiate and Florida Cattlewomen’s Association.
My next big step was accepting the commitment to join the FCW Executive Committee, knowing it was a six year journey to make it to the honor of FCW President. Which brings me to my current big adventure, dedicating the next 12 months to serving and promoting the Florida Beef industry, educating youth and consumers about the importance of agriculture and understanding where there food comes from, and inspiring other women in this industry to take their next big steps toward a new adventure! I
am blessed to have the support of an amazing group of women on the FCW Executive committee and of so many others as we strive to live up to the legacy of those who have paved the way before us. I invite you to get involved, whether locally with your county association, serving on a committee or volunteering at an event on the state level, or nationally with the American National Cattlewomen. My motto for this year is “Lead with Passion” and I challenge each of you to find ways to live up to this statement. Let us all work together to continue moving this association and industry forward.
Thank you for this honor and I strive to serve this year by “Leading with Passion”!
Michele Curts
