FCW Report October 2021

“In a world where you can be anything, be kind” -Unknown.

It seems like such an easy thing to do, but all too often we miss the mark of offering kindness. During my FCW Executive Committee retreat, the team and I set goals for our upcoming year of service on all the things we wanted to accomplish together. Our very first goal for the team is to “be kind”. Be kind to yourself, be kind to others, be kind when it’s hard to be kind, and hold each other accountable when we need to be reminded to “be kind”.
Last month we marked 20 years since September 11th, 2001, a day that changed so much of the world for so many people. A day that united our country in a way my generation had never seen before. In the wake of that day, people from all walks of life showed kindness and love for their fellow mankind. I have no doubts the word “mankind”, used to describe the entire human race and having the word “Kind” in it, is no coincidence. So take time each day to remember to “Be Kind”.

FCW has been busy with the September quarterly meeting being held in Gainesville, FL. The FCW “Join our Cow Crew” Membership Drive is off to a great start with 45 new members joining since it was first launched in July! Marnie Ward, Citrus County CattleWomen won the first quarter prize drawing from the new members. All the new members that join between now and the December Quarterly will have the chance to be entered into a new drawing. A special THANK YOU to everyone that helped make the Quarterly Steak-out Dinner a success! Thank you to Alachua County Cattlemen & CattleWomen, University of Florida Animal Science faculty, staff and students from the Gator Collegiate and Block-N-Bridle clubs and the Florida CattleWomen!

Make plans to join us for the Year-End Quarterly in Bradenton, December 2nd & 3rd, 2021. We will be collecting Christmas gifts for the Hope Children’s Home. Information has been mailed out the County CattleWomen President’s, if your county would like to select a child please reach out to Committee Chair Debbie Gill at Debbie@lonesomegranch.com.

The FCW Executive Committee has been busy visiting with County CattleWomen all across the state, sharing kindness, educating ladies of what FCW’s goals are and encouraging them through their local events. We have visited with the newly formed Big Bend CattleWomen, the Gator Collegiate CattleWomen and helped with the officer installation of the Citrus County CattleWomen.

(Don’t forget to RSVP for the Fall Ranch Tour at Diamond D Ranch in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, October 9th, 2021. We will get the opportunity to learn some of the Agritourism tips they use when educating and working with urbanized populations.

Make sure to sign-up for the Tampa Junior Women’s League Holiday Gift Market at the Florida State Fair Grounds, November 11 -14, 2021. Help us engage with and educate over 30,000 attendees that pass through this event as we share recipes, offer beef samples, educate attendees about the Florida beef industry and so much more!

Whether you participate locally or statewide, make sure to tell the important story of the Florida beef industry and remember “In a world where you can be anything, be kind” to yourself and others!
