Hi cowmen and women! I hope y’all have had a great start to the year of 2022. I know I have, and I am very excited for the months to come. To share a few things that I have done since I last wrote would include my favorite, “Boots on the Hill” in Tallahassee, trying beef dishes at restaurants in Gainesville, and preparing for the Florida State Fair.
First and foremost, Boots on the Hill. The time I have been most excited for as Sweetheart. My Mom was an absolute saint and traveled with me during this time. We started Tuesday afternoon with a FCA Executive Board Meeting at the hotel. This meeting allowed us to gather together, share pertinent information regarding our positions and also brief ourselves at the bills we were supporting and monitoring during session. We then had time to fellowship after our meeting over a beautiful steak supper. I had the best time sitting with the University of Florida’s Vice President of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Scott Angle along with Mary Ann Hooks who serves as the Director for Governmental Relations at University of Florida IFAS. The next morning, we met with all of the members of FCA who were participating in Boots on the Hill and passed out packets with representatives to meet with. President Coddington and I had the opportunity to meet with Representative Jim Boyd and chat about FCA and thank him for his continued support. We also sat down with Representative Albritton to do the same. Boots on the Hill was a success and I know that the Florida Cattlemen’s Association made a positive impact in Tallahassee. If you were not able to make it this year, I highly encourage you to come next year.
Next, I tried a juicy burger at the new restaurant in Gainesville. It definitely lived up to its hype. This burger was from Spurrier’s Gridiron Grill and I was even featured on their Instagram social media. And of course, Go Gators!!
Lastly, I am preparing my travels for the Florida State Fair! I am excited to see all of the exhibitors and all of their hard work they have put into their beef projects!
